LONG BIO
Dana Valerie (they/she) is a twenty-five year old singer-songwriter hailing from Newmarket, Ontario. Merging their love of folk music with emotionally rich content and an indie-rock flare, Dana Valerie creates lively music that forces the listener to feel. Largely influenced lyrically by poetic greats such as Leonard Cohen and Paul Simon, Dana takes the time to ensure every lyric is carefully chosen.
Having played the flute from a young age, Dana found their joy in music and went on to teach themselves guitar, piano, banjo, bass, and ukulele. Going on to study classical voice at Wilfrid Laurier University, Dana now teaches voice/theory/guitar based out of Newmarket, Ontario.
A past member of the Canadian Musicians Co-operative, Dana Valerie has performed across southern Ontario, from The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, to the mainstage at York Region Pride in 2023 and 2024. Dana spends their spare time performing online to their 16,100+ followers on TikTok, sharing originals and covers alike. Dana is dedicated to delivering emotional and enjoyable performances for their audience.
